HERRICKS WRESTLING
Some Rule Changes

Figure Four is now illegal around the head (as well as around the body or both legs

The line is now considered to be inbounds.

When your opponent takes his second injury time out at the end of the second period, if it was your choice for the start of the third period, then you get an additional choice at the first restart during the third period. ie. you choose down then reverse and go out of bounds, when you come back to restart you can choose top-bottom-or-neutral.

Highlander Wrestling Hallway of Fame

In the Herricks Community Center the hallway that links the Wrestling Office, Wrestling Team Locker Room, Muller Arena, and The Room has developed into the Highlander Wrestling Hallway of Fame. Team and individual awards are exhibited in the several display cases. One section has been devoted to Scholarship plaques honoring both the alumni donors and the team member recipients.
There is a special display case that has been established to recognize all those who participated in the Herricks High School Wrestling Program through their senior year on The Hill. Engraved brass plates for each individual from 1978 through 2013 have already been installed indicating their name, graduation class, and years with the team. We are in the process of identifying the old-old guys and gals who were  part of our Highlander Wrestling tradition to fill in the years from 1958 - 1977.

Anyone who has any records/recollections of team wrestlers and managers please contact Coach Cliff Forziat [cforziat@yahoo.com].
Put "HW ALUMNI" in the subject line.

Our current alumni data can be found on our Alumni page using the Graduates link found on the wrestling mat

We have some pictures (a bit crude) of the The Room, the Muller Arena, and the Hallway of Fame in a PDF file that can be accessed using this link:

Special Thanks

We are deeply grateful to Craig Yellin (1994) and Dr. Raymond Omid (1993) for their ongoing Herricks Wrestling Scholarship grant support through C.Y. Services, Inc. and Advanced Holistic Healthcare respectively. Their continuing support for our program is truly a cut above. Thank you, gentlemen.
Coach Forziat Accepted Into
National Wrestling Hall of Fame
[& Highlander Wrestling Alumni Reunion]

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Downstate Chapter in New York together with The Friends of Long Island Wrestling, Inc. will induct Coach Cliff Forziat into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (Stillwater, Oklahoma). The induction ceremony will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Melville (NY) Marriott Hotel.
A committee formed of Herricks Wrestling alumni, parents, coaches and friends headed by Mr. Fred Holle has been working to get the word out. The induction event will take the place of our annual Herricks Wrestling Alumni Reunion in 2014, and will be a great opportunity for all of our old boys and gals to get together for some reminiscing and elbow-bending (and to show Long Island Wrestling that the Highlanders are truly a cut above).
Although it seems early the committee is already receiving confirmations from those who plan to attend. If you have not already been contacted, get in touch with Fred Holle [wstbry67@aol.com and 516-935-0937]. There are a couple of other inductees, and space may become an issue. Click Here for a partial list of those who have already said that they will  be there.
A formal color booklet will be distributed nation-wide covering this event. There will be a page for Coach Forziat plus an additional four pages devoted to Herricks Highlander Wrestling. If you wish to be included as a sponsor on one of those four pages, please contact Fred ASAP. (layout and press deadlines are coming up).
